The North American Vexilology Association (NAVA) declared the Montana flag the third worst country/province flag, 70th in the 72nd field in a list containing all provinces in Canada, US states and US territories. The Georgia flag was named the worst, but has since been changed, and the Nebraska flag was crowned as the second worst. NAVA states that about half the US states use blue fields that make them difficult to distinguish and the survey ranks flags with the lowest complex words and seals.
