Source

The Washington Constitution is the most important source of state law. Legislation enacted by the Washington State Legislature, published in the Laws of Washington , and codified in the Revision of the Washington Code . Regulations of state institutions (sometimes called administrative law) are published in Washington State List and codified in Washington Administration Code . The Washington legal system is based on common law, interpreted by the law of the case through the decisions of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals, published in Washington Reports and Washington Appellate Reports respectively. County, city, and city can also disseminate local regulations.

Constitution

The main source of state law is the Constitution of Washington. The Washington Constitution in turn is under the Constitution of the United States, which is the highest law in the country.

Legislation

Under the state constitution, the State of Washington Legislature has enacted laws. Legal sessions published in the Laws of Washington , which in turn have been codified, compiled, and/or consolidated in the Revised Code of Washington (RCW). Both are published by the Legal Committee of the State of Washington Statute and the Reviser of Washington State Code employed and supervised.

Rule

Under certain laws, state institutions have enacted regulations, also known as administrative law. The Washington State Register (WSR) is a bi-weekly publication that includes notices of proposed and accelerated rules, emergency and permanently adopted rules, public meetings, requests for public feedback, rule review notices, executive orders from Governors, court rules, prosecutor opinion summaries, adolescent disposition standards, and the country's maximum interest rate. The Washington Administrative Code (WAC) encodes or compiles the rules and organizes them by subject or agency, and is updated twice a month. There are also many institutions with quasi-judicial authority to hold hearings and make decisions. The Washington State Register is published by the Statute Law Committee, and the Washington Administrative Code is compiled and published under the authority of the Code Reviser.

Case law

The Washington legal system is based on common law. Like all US states except Louisiana, Washington has an acceptance law that provides "acceptance" of British law. All laws, regulations, and ordinances are subject to judicial review. Under the common law tradition, the Washington court has developed a large number of legal cases through the decision of the Washington Supreme Court and the Washington Court of Appeals.

The decision of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal is published in Washington Reports and Washington Appellate Reports, respectively. Both are published by LexisNexis, while slip opinion is published on the Internet. The Reporter of Decisions is a Supreme Court constitutional official who prepares the decisions and opinions of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal for publication in the court's official report. Cases from the Washington appellate court are also reported on unofficial Pacific Reporter. From 1854 to 1889, opinions about the territorial Supreme Court were published in three volumes of the Washington Region Report .

Local Ordinance

District, city and municipal legislatures may adopt ordinances, resolutions, rules, regulations, movements, and orders, offenses that can be punished up to 90 days in jail and a fine of $ 1,000, or for gross violations of one year in prison and a fine of $ 5,000. Alternatively, the legislature may make a violation of civil violations, but no city or county can set civil penalties for an act that is a crime under state law, nor is it possible to set a criminal penalty that is different from that provided by state law for the same act. The power of the public to initiate the ordinance through petitions and have enacted a voter-referenced ordinance is only available in first-class cities, coded cities, cities or cities organized under the government commission plan, and regency home districts.

All cities and cities are required to issue every regulation in their official newspaper, although in lieu of publishing all city or city regulations can publish the summary. States shall provide advance notice of any proposed police or sanitary regulations before being adopted by the legislature, and such notice may include a copy of the rule or summarize its contents.
