Adoption service discontinued

For decades, the LDS Family Service has become one of the largest nonprofit, private, nonprofit organizations in the world. But on June 17, 2014, announced that they will no longer operate a full-scale adoption agency. In contrast, the LDS Family Service plans to divert all resources related to adoption to counseling for biological parents and prospective adoptive parents and partnerships with local agencies for services that are no longer provided. According to Deseret News, agencies cite changes in adoption trends such as reductions in children available for adoption. The LDS Family Service has been the subject of lawsuits regarding father rights in recent adoption cases, and other faith-based adoption institutions are under pressure to facilitate adoption for same-sex couples. But the organization said that none of these issues affected his decision.
