The Seattle City Seal Official consists of portraits of the Seattle Chief where it appeared on 1869, the year of city incorporation. Surrounded by two circles. The words Seal Of The Company are at the top in the outer circle, and the words Seattle City are at the top in the inner circle.
The original seal was designed by James A. Wehn ââand printed by Richard Fuller and adopted by the Seattle City Council in 1937. Prior to its adoption in 1937, the city used a seal of a notary type.
Over time the seals have gone through many updates and redesign efforts. The original seal was redesigned and replaced in 1974 with a simpler design as part of a larger brand effort in Seattle. The seal was re-designed in the 1980s and later in the 1990s to match the adoption of the Seattle City logo. The current official design has two cones of cypress and what looks like two salmon under the portrait. The Corporate Seal of the City of Seattle is different from Seattle City's Official Logo.
