Reign

Little Aleppo has been excavated by archaeologists and the knowledge of Yamhad and its kings mainly comes from tablets found in Alalakh and Mari. Little is known about Yarim-Lim II. Its existence is confirmed by a seal inscription found in Alalakh, where he designates himself as the son of Abba-El I and the "lover of the god Hadad". One of his ministers was This-Kubaba, known from his seal inscription found in Alalakh.

Identity

this king's identity is being debated: Abba-El I have a brother named Yarim-Lim to whom he gave the kingdom of Alalakh. King Alalakh mentions that he is the son of Hammurabi I, and Yarim-Lim II in his seal inscription mentions that he is the son of Abba-El I, but Moshe Weinfeld declares that Yarim-Lim II of Yamhad is the same. Yarim-Lim from Alalakh. He believed that the seal that Yarim-Lim was the son of Abba-El belonged to Yarim-Lim, son of Hammurabi I, and that the reason for mentioning that Yarim-Lim was the son of Abba-El I in the seal of the inscription was that Abba-El adopted his brother for created a legal basis to install it as king.

This theory is difficult to prove because there is no textual reference for adoption and the fact that the installation of Yarim-lim (son of Hammurabi) on the throne of Alalakh occurred long before the adoption that was assumed to occur on the side. Nor is it necessary to adopt to legitimize Alalakh's gift to the king's brother.
