Resolution
Acting under Chapter VII of the UN Charter this morning, the Security Council extended the mandate of the UN Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUC) until May 15, 2007.
Taking the action with its unanimous resolution 1751 (2007), the Council notes that the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to pose a threat to international peace and security in the region.
The Council reaffirms its commitment to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and its ongoing contribution to the consolidation of peace and stability of the country in the post-transition period, in particular through MONUC.
