Histori

Christian Family Solutions was founded in 1965 as Wisconsin Lutheran Convalescent Home, a joint product of Bethany Convalescent Home in Milwaukee and Lutheran Children's Friend Society in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Then in 1965, the Board of Directors determined that there was a significant need for child welfare institutions within the WELS.

On March 4, 1966, the agency's official name was changed to Wisconsin Lutheran Child & amp; Family Service, Inc. to reflect the two divisions of the agency (child welfare and recovery/aging). Child welfare divisions include Christian Family Counseling and adoption services.

On September 24, 1967, WLCFS held a groundbreaking ceremony for the addition of 48 beds to a 116-bed residence for an old building and two floors that housed child's welfare and administrative offices.

In 1980, WLCFS created a subsidiary called Wisconsin Lutheran Retirement Community, Inc. (WLRC) to build and oversee Luther Haven, an independent retired community in Milwaukee.

In 1994, the WLCFS adoption service was closed, and the existing convalescent house name was changed to the Wisconsin Lutheran Care Center.

The addition of the Wisconsin Living Center Lutheran, assisted living facility in Milwaukee, was completed in 1997.

In 2008, WLCFS initiated a Member Assistance Program, a customized and comprehensive way for churches, schools and organizations to assist in meeting the emotional or psychological needs of their members and students by providing convenient, affordable Christian services such as counseling, consultation and presentation education. This service can be provided directly or via a secure video connection anywhere in the world, using a web cam and secure Internet connection.

In June 2009, WLCFS dedicated its newest facility, The Gardens of Hartford, assisted living facility in Hartford, Wisconsin.

In January 2011, WLCFS-Christian Family Solutions acquired Samaritans at Home Care, which provides non-medical home care services for people with disabilities, elderly, and prospective or new mothers in communities around Milwaukee. Later, the name of the program was changed to Christian Family Solutions Home Care.

In September 2011, WLCFS completed the sale of a nursing home, Wisconsin Lutheran Care Center, to an outside company. This facility is now known as Milwaukee Estates Living & amp; Maintenance Center.

In October 2011, WLCFS became known as WLCFS-Christian Family Solutions to reflect a more global reach of services. The institution's official name remains Wisconsin Lutheran Child & amp; Family Services, Inc.

In February 2012, WLCFS-Christian Family Solutions moved its corporate headquarters to Germantown, Wisconsin.
