Clifford the Big Red Dog is an animated television series of American-English children, based on the children's book series Norman Bridwell of the same name. Produced by Scholastic Productions, originally aired on PBS Kids from September 4, 2000 to February 25, 2003. The English version (where it was dubbed the English voice actor replaces the original American soundtrack) was initially aired on BBC 2 on April 1, 2002.
Two 15 minute stories are made every half hour cartoon. Usually one story shows Clifford and his dog friends, Cleo and T-Bone among them; Other stories will focus on the owners of Clifford, Emily Elizabeth and her friends. During a scene that focuses on the perspective of a dog's character, human speech will replace barks to engage audiences in the storyline from a dog's point of view.
John Ritter voiced Clifford in all episodes. It was originally performed by Brent Titcomb in the 1988 series directly to the video. In general, Ritter's schedule dictates the production of Clifford the Big Red Dog . At the last minute of 68 half-hour cartoons and the subsequent filming of Clifford's Truly Great Films was over, Ritter returned to ABC's main schedule, starring in my 8 Simple Rules . Ritter's death on September 11, 2003 came less than a week before PBS debuted Clifford's Puppy Days, an event that made Clifford's legacy go.
Although no new episode of Clifford has been released since Ritter's death in 2003, the voice actor for the main character has changed some of their roles to Be willing to Learn PBS Kids PSA. Clifford's Really Big Movie functions as the last series due to Ritter's death, as no new episodes are made to proceed from where he left off. However, Clifford's Puppy Days continued to air until its cancellation in 2006.
On May 16, 2018, Scholastic announced a reboot into the series and is scheduled for the final 2019 concurrent premiere on PBS Kids and Amazon Prime.
The TV series takes place on the fictional island of Birdwell Island, where Clifford lives. The name is inspired by Norman Bridwell, author of the book, but the letters I and R are diverted. It's based on Martha's Vineyard, where Bridwell lives.
Emily Elizabeth used to live in an apartment in New York City, but she moved with her parents and Clifford to Birdwell Island because her mother told her that a small apartment is not a place for big dogs like Clifford.

- Story 1 - The opening theme is followed by the first main story, which is about dogs, and the problems they face.
- Storytime with Speckle - Between the first and second stories, Emily Elizabeth reads Clifford the Speckle Story, a tiny (approximately) second filler about a fictional dog (Speckle), and her animal friends.
- Story 2 - This is followed by another central story, about Emily Elizabeth and her friends.
- Clifford's Great Idea - Before the credit, a 30-second short took place called the Clifford Great Idea. In short it is basically an animation of etiquette, a proverb, or basic truth like "Play Fair", "Help Others", etc., with a narrative by Emily Elizabeth.

In 2004, Warner Bros. Pictures distributes long animated movies based on an event titled Clifford's Really Big Movie . It's about Clifford, Cleo and T-Bone joining the animal show to win the lifetime supply of dog food to give to Clifford. This is the last film of John Ritter when he died on September 11, 2003, after completing a sound work for the film. This film is dedicated to his memory. The film also stars Wayne Brady as Shackleford the Ferret, Judge Reinhold as Amazing Larry, John Goodman as George Wolfsbottom, and Jenna Elfman as Dorothy the Cow. The film also serves as the final series.

Reboot
A reboot was announced on May 16, 2018 by Gramedia, and will premiere at the end of 2019. Scholastic Films, Chocolate Film Bag and 100 Chicken will produce the series.
